North Texas is one of the nation’s strongest regional economies due in large part to strategic investments in infrastructure supporting mobility, workforce access, and coordinated regional growth. The 42-year-old Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system is one of those foundational investments.

That investment is now at risk.

Several DART member cities are pursuing May 2026 ballot measures that would allow them to withdraw from DART, fragmenting a regional transit system that supports Dallas’ economy, commercial development, and workforce connectivity.

If successful, the withdrawals would eliminate DART immediately in those cities and devastate services in the remaining cities. This impact would shift costs, reduce service reliability, and undermine decades of coordinated planning, with no corresponding benefit to taxpayers. In fact, the cities that are pursuing leaving DART would still be obligated to pay off years of debt on the backs of taxpayers in exchange for no DART services.

Connect North Texas PAC was formed to prevent that outcome.

Backed by concerned business and civic leaders, this effort is a disciplined, well-resourced campaign designed to protect DART’s integrity and preserve a regional approach to transit.
